Price for Sugar Confectionery; (Excluding Chewing Gum, Including White Chocolate), Not Containing Cocoa in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $2,675 per ton in November 2023, which is down by -1.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 7.1% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,917 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,845 per ton), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($1,807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $4,225 per ton, with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,046 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($9,547 per ton), while the price for Iran ($998 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa, which increased by 11% to 299K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa skyrocketed to $736M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
