The average import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form stood at $1,707 per ton in September 2023, waning by -2.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from December 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last nine months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form decreased by -4.3% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,785 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

The average export price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form stood at $1,687 per ton in August 2023, falling by -8.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated notable growth from November 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last nine-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, export price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form decreased by -11.3% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 47% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,901 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($1,891 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($1,328 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
