The average import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form stood at $1,052 per ton in 2022, increasing by 7.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,426 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,332 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($588 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,479 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($14,299 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,619 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+28.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Czech Republic recorded growth in overseas purchases of sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form, which increased by 22% to 5.6K tons in 2022.
