The average import price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form stood at $1,921 per ton in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2,604 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Israel ($2,156 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,091 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($1,661 per ton) and Turkey ($1,794 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for sugars; fructose, chemically pure, in solid form amounted to $2,114 per ton, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 144% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,803 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($3,607 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($842 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
