In 2022, the average import price for sulphites; other than of sodia amounted to $768 per ton, rising by 33% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $897 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,902 per ton), while the price for Germany totaled $716 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+16.4%).

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,255 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,108 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway totaled $413 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+4.0%).

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of sulphites; other than of sodia, when their volume decreased by -26.6% to 483 tons. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 658 tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In value terms, sulphites; other than of sodium imports fell slightly to $371K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.7% over the last three-year period.
