In March 2024, the average import price for synthetic staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinnings amounted to $1,917 per ton, surging by 28% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2023 to March 2024, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($6,864 per ton), while the price for Algeria ($858 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for synthetic staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinnings stood at $1,227 per ton in March 2024, increasing by 3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 4.9% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,303 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to March 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In March 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($1,358 per ton) and the United States ($1,317 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($1,035 per ton) and Romania ($1,070 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Synthetic Staple Fibres, Not Carded, Combed or Otherwise Processed for Spinning in Turkey
In 2022, imports of synthetic staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinnings into Turkey declined to 480K tons, which is down by -4.3% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 14%.
