In 2022, the average import price for textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes amounted to $2.2 per square meter, growing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes increased by +70.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($6.4 per square meter), while the price for China ($1.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes stood at $1.4 per square meter in March 2024, rising by 24% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a tangible increase from March 2023 to March 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2024 figures, export price for textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes increased by +23.9% against February 2024 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 56% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in March 2024.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1.9 per square meter), while the average price for exports to India totaled $620 per thousand square meters.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the third year in a row, Malaysia recorded decline in overseas purchases of textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes, which decreased by -14.2% to 3.5M square meters in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic curtailment. Imports peaked at 9.2M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of textile fabrics; impregnated, coated, covered or laminated with polyurethanes expanded to $7.6M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep reduction. Imports peaked at $14M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
