The average import price for textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses stood at $1,212 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 30%. The import price peaked at $1,229 per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,253 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($621 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses amounted to $1,306 per ton, declining by -4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 145%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,616 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,329 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($351 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (-1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the fourth year in a row, Iraq recorded growth in purchases abroad of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses, which increased by 26% to 61K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses soared to $74M in 2022. In general, imports posted significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses decreased by -34.2% to 425 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 146%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 646 tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses contracted dramatically to $555K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 186% against the previous year.
