The average import price for textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses stood at $436 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -21.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 29% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $727 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($693 per ton), while the price for the United States ($394 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In July 2023, the average export price for textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses amounted to $1,056 per ton, rising by 20% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,638 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($853 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Textiles; Worn Clothing and Other Worn Articles in Pakistan
In 2022, approx. 807K tons of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses were imported into Pakistan; which is down by -13.6% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 93%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 934K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, imports of textiles; worn clothing and other worn articleses rose slightly to $417M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 97% against the previous year.
