In October 2023, the average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price amounted to $3,053 per ton, reducing by -3.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 68% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,450 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,106 per ton), while the price for Belgium amounted to $3,044 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.0%).

Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($3,255 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($1,753 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+28.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
