In 2022, the average export price for tobacco, (not stemmed or stripped)s amounted to $3,517 per ton, picking up by 6.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,625 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($7,276 per ton), while the average price for exports to Madagascar ($235 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
