In August 2023, the average import price for tobacco, (not stemmed or stripped)s amounted to $6,110 per ton, shrinking by -25.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 50% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $8,166 per ton in July 2023, and then dropped rapidly in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($12,690 per ton), while the price for Canada ($4,060 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
