The average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $5,440 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 16%. The import price peaked at $5,548 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($13,097 per ton), while the price for Armenia ($435 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.

In value terms, exports of tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped contracted notably to $5.6M in 2022. Overall, exports faced a sharp slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 4.6%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $32M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
