The average import price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $5,440 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 16%. The import price peaked at $5,548 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($13,097 per ton), while the price for Armenia ($435 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $6,332 per ton in 2022, growing by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,718 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +1.3% per year.

In 2022, the amount of tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped imported into Russia shrank to 47K tons, with a decrease of -5.8% on the year before. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 84%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped contracted notably to $5.6M in 2022. Overall, exports faced a sharp slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 4.6%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $32M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
