Price for Tobacco; Partly or Wholly Stemmed or Stripped in Uganda (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for tobacco; partly or wholly stemmed or stripped stood at $4,084 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,691 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($17,729 per ton), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($984 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In general, import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
