In 2022, the average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse import price amounted to $3,240 per ton, surging by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,635 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,502 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($350 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
