The average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price stood at $13,306 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -5.6% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price increased by +47.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 56%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $14,092 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($20,590 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($2,146 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
