The average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse import price stood at $3,798 per ton in January 2022, with a decrease of -8.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 when the average import price increased by 24% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,138 per ton. From November 2021 to January 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,495 per ton), while the price for Bangladesh ($1,014 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $6,476 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
