In May 2024, the average import price for t-shirts, singlets and other vests; of cotton, knitted or crocheted amounted to $2.0 per unit, shrinking by -11.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2.7 per unit in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to May 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices from India ($2.3 per unit) and Turkey ($2.1 per unit), while the price for Bangladesh ($1.8 per unit) and the Czech Republic ($1.9 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2024 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6.0 per unit. From March 2024 to May 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($13.2 per unit), while the average price for exports to Romania ($2.8 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
