In March 2024, the average import price for t-shirts, singlets and other vests; of cotton, knitted or crocheted amounted to $1.9 per unit, shrinking by -9.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $2.5 per unit in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to March 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was India ($2.6 per unit), while the price for Uzbekistan ($629 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for t-shirts, singlets and other vests; of cotton, knitted or crocheted amounted to $4.5 per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4.6 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($7.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of t-shirts, singlets and other vests; of cotton, knitted or crocheted, when their volume decreased by -37.3% to 22M units. Overall, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 35M units, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, imports of t-shirts, singlets and other vests; of cotton, knitted or crocheted dropped markedly to $43M in 2022. In general, imports showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $67M, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
