The average export price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $2,305 per ton in January 2024, flattening at the previous month. Over the period from January 2023 to January 2024, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 15% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,307 per ton in August 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2024.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Norway ($2,952 per ton) and Angola ($2,785 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($2,148 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($2,185 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In January 2024, the average import price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron amounted to $1,667 per ton, dropping by -57.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 an increase of 88% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,882 per ton, and then declined notably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($9,917 per ton), while the price for Japan ($2,511 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 64%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
