The average import price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $1,252 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -13.1% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 134% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,440 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($3,677 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($844 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $638 per ton in January 2024, surging by 23% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a mild increase from March 2023 to January 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2024 figures, export price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron decreased by -23.4% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $918 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($1,094 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($509 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
