The average import price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $832 per ton in December 2023, with a decrease of -8.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 an increase of 61% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,398 per ton. From November 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +6.6% per month.

The average export price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron stood at $32,644 per ton in December 2023, falling by -9.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild expansion from January 2023 to December 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, export price for tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, of cast iron increased by +79.9% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 64% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $43,849 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($35,479 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($14,465 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
