Price for Tungsten (Wolfram); Waste and Scrap in India (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average export price for tungsten (wolfram); waste and scraps amounted to $26,708 per ton, declining by -1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 57% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $27,237 per ton in June 2023, and then reduced slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($28,665 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan amounted to $22,484 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2023, the average import price for tungsten (wolfram); waste and scraps amounted to $19,740 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked in March 2023.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Germany.
From January 2023 to March 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to 0.0% per month.
Exports of Tungsten (Wolfram); Waste and Scrap in India
In 2022, approx. 455 tons of tungsten (wolfram); waste and scraps were exported from India; which is down by -7% against the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 379% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 489 tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, tungsten (wolfram); waste and scrap exports rose remarkably to $12M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 513%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
