The average import price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds stood at $770 per ton in 2022, declining by -20.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,437 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($1,207 per ton), while the price for Australia ($361 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+23.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds surged to $208K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
