The average import price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds stood at $1,582 per ton in September 2023, flattening at the previous month. In general, import price indicated a resilient increase from December 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4% over the last nine-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds increased by +60.0% against December 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,584 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,506 per ton), while the price for Germany ($968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds stood at $1,861 per ton in 2022, dropping by -10.9% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds increased by +34.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 51%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,090 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,008 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($807 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
