In 2022, the average export price for vegetables amounted to $373 per ton, reducing by -2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 61%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $516 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($377 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain stood at $352 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (-3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for vegetables amounted to $974 per ton, dropping by -7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 a decrease of -5.8%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,333 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($15,118 per ton), while the price for France amounted to $268 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+17.8%).

For the third year in a row, Morocco recorded decline in shipments abroad of vegetables, which decreased by -4.7% to 326 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced decrease.

In value terms, exports of vegetables declined to $122K in 2022. In general, exports saw a drastic downturn.
