Price for Vegetables; Olives, Provisionally Preserved But Unsuitable in That State for Immediate Consumption in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for vegetables; olives, provisionally preserved but unsuitable in that state for immediate consumptia stood at $1,692 per ton in 2022, falling by -10.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,899 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,728 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates stood at $1,231 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.5%).

For the third consecutive year, Sri Lanka recorded decline in overseas purchases of vegetables; olives, provisionally preserved but unsuitable in that state for immediate consumptia, which decreased by -6.4% to 31 tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a dramatic setback.

In value terms, imports of vegetables; olives, provisionally preserved but unsuitable in that state for immediate consumptia dropped markedly to $53K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic curtailment. The smallest decline of -13.3% was in 2021.
