The average import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds stood at $739 per ton in January 2024, which is down by -28.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 124% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,435 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,490 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($468 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+18.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $1,073 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,745 per ton), while the average price for exports to France totaled $383 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+30.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds decreased by -33.8% to 27K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 58K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
