The average export price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen stood at $1,408 per ton in December 2023, shrinking by -1.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,498 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,737 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,052 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen stood at $1,498 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 2.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,751 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,889 per ton), while the price for China ($1,292 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen, when their volume decreased by -8.9% to 77K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 11%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 85K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, exports of vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen dropped to $95M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $104M, and then reduced in the following year.
