The average import price for vinyl chloride polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $703 per ton in December 2023, with an increase of 11% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 28% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $842 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($1,335 per ton), while the price for Canada ($270 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, the export price saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $468 per ton. From April 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($984 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($244 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 89%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
