In 2022, the average import price for wadding; other articles thereof, of man-made fibreses amounted to $10,315 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 9.5%. The import price peaked at $10,901 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($10,321 per ton) and Japan ($10,315 per ton), while the price for the United States ($10,309 per ton) and Singapore ($10,315 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for wadding; other articles thereof, of man-made fibreses stood at $9,496 per ton in 2022, growing by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $10,106 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the Philippines ($9,497 per ton) and India ($9,497 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($9,482 per ton) and Cameroon ($9,496 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+45.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Wadding; Other Articles Thereof, of Man-Made Fibres in Vietnam
For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam recorded growth in supplies from abroad of wadding; other articles thereof, of man-made fibreses, which increased by 5.7% to 3K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, imports of wadding; other articles thereof, of man-made fibreses amounted to $31M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +39.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
