In October 2023, the average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses amounted to $265 per ton, with a decrease of -6.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $380 per ton. From March 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($445 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($190 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $642 per ton in 2022, increasing by 97% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The export price peaked at $745 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($2,220 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($182 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+33.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses into Ukraine contracted dramatically to 19K tons in 2022, dropping by -67.3% against 2021. Overall, imports showed a sharp downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49%.

Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 98% against the previous year.

In value terms, exports of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses skyrocketed to $1.6M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 84%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
