The average winding wire of copper import price stood at $5,223 per ton in February 2023, with a decrease of -14.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 41% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,989 per ton. From June 2022 to February 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Thailand ($6,377 per ton) and Sri Lanka ($6,104 per ton), while the price for China ($4,638 per ton) and Malaysia ($5,388 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
