In January 2024, the average import price for winding wire, other than of coppers amounted to $6,282 per ton, with a decrease of -14.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2023 an increase of 18% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,320 per ton, and then shrank in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($35,185 per ton), while the price for the UK ($8,949 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of winding wire, other than of coppers into Hungary skyrocketed to 2.1K tons, increasing by 18% compared with the year before. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last three years.
