In January 2024, the average import price for winding wire, other than of coppers amounted to $7,225 per ton, increasing by 14% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 an increase of 25% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,933 per ton. From October 2023 to January 2024, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was China ($17,274 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($4,603 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for winding wire, other than of coppers stood at $45,117 per ton in January 2024, reducing by -14.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2023 an increase of 323% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $52,854 per ton, and then fell in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($107K per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($6,942 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Winding Wire, Other than of Copper in Poland
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of winding wire, other than of coppers, when their volume decreased by -21.6% to 3.8K tons. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 31% against the previous year.
In value terms, imports of winding wire, other than of coppers stood at $24M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 346%.
