The average import price for wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses stood at $7.8 per litre in December 2022, waning by -2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 an increase of 17% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $9.7 per litre in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14.9 per litre), while the price for Spain ($3.8 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price, however, saw a slight setback. The export price peaked at $6.4 per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($23 per litre), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses decreased by -10.9% to 57M litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 70%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $469M, leveling off in the following year.
