The average import price for wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses stood at $2 per litre in 2022, with an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 8.6% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2.8 per litre in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($3.6 per litre), while the price for South Africa ($1.7 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses amounted to $1.3 per litre, with an increase of 2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 52%. The export price peaked at $5.4 per litre in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($1.7 per litre), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo amounted to $1.1 per litre.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, imports of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses into Uganda declined to 1.1M litres, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at 1.4M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses amounted to $2.2M in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep reduction. Imports peaked at $3M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses decreased by -28.9% to 185K litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 161% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 260K litres in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of wine; still, in containers holding 2 litres or lesses fell sharply to $237K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 117%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $325K, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
