In March 2022, the average import price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $588 per thousand litres, surging by 4.7% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 5% against the previous month. The import price peaked in March 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($957 per thousand litres), while the price for Hungary ($484 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3.1 per litre in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1 per litre), while the average price for exports to Ukraine stood at $1 per litre.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (-1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the third year in a row, Belarus recorded decline in purchases abroad of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses, which decreased by -6.1% to 44M litres in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -3% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at 51M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses soared to $27M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
