In November 2023, the average import price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $651 per thousand litres, shrinking by -9.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 52% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.7 per litre, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1.4 per litre), while the price for Ukraine ($451 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $1.1 per litre, with a decrease of -12.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.3 per litre in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Norway ($51.1 per litre), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($738 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+35.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses decreased by -14.9% to 27M litres in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked at 31M litres in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, imports of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses reduced to $14M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $15M in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
