Price for Wine; Still, in Containers Holding More than 2 Litres in Slovakia (FOB) - 2023

In November 2023, the average export price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $544 per thousand litres, growing by 8.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $587 per thousand litres in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Czech Republic.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +0.8% per month.

In November 2023, the average import price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $822 per thousand litres, declining by -11% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 45% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1.1 per litre in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Hungary ($866 per thousand litres) and Moldova ($679 per thousand litres), while the price for Spain ($614 per thousand litres) and the Czech Republic ($672 per thousand litres) were amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Exports of Wine; Still, in Containers Holding More than 2 Litres in Slovakia

In 2022, overseas shipments of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses were finally on the rise to reach 8.8M litres after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at 11M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses expanded to $7M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a perceptible setback. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $8.1M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

For the third year in a row, Slovakia recorded decline in overseas purchases of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses, which decreased by -0.4% to 31M litres in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The smallest decline of -0.2% was in 2021. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 39M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses reached $17M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at $19M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
