In August 2023, the average export price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $1,082 per ton, rising by 6.4% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 12% against the previous month. The export price peaked in August 2023.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($1,203 per ton) and Iceland ($1,111 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($1,086 per ton) and Norway ($1,093 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
