In 2022, the average export price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $231 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 60%. The export price peaked at $577 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($293 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($26 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
