Price for Wood Chips, Parts, Residues, Pellets and Other Agglomerates in Estonia (FOB) - 2024
In March 2024, the average export price for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates amounted to $124 per cubic meter, rising by 7% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 269% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $141 per cubic meter in January 2024; however, from February 2024 to March 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2024, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($285 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($48.8 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates amounted to $100 per cubic meter, rising by 86% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 192%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($541 per cubic meter), while the price for Russia ($54 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+20.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the fourth year in a row, Estonia recorded growth in overseas shipments of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates, which increased by 37% to 6.7M cubic meters in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates soared to $356M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +55.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
