The average export price for wood stood at $92.0 per cubic meter in December 2021, with an increase of 62% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2021 when the average export price increased by 136% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $125 per cubic meter in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($266 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Macao SAR ($11.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $23 per cubic meter, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 622% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $39 per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($313 per cubic meter), while the price for Russia ($7.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+107.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of wood exported from China skyrocketed to 36K cubic meters, picking up by 18% compared with the previous year. In value terms, exports of wood declined slightly to $2.3M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at $2.3M in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.
