The average export price for wood stood at $7.5 per cubic meter in 2022, which is down by -9.5% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 32%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8.3 per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($2.8 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $5.1 per cubic meter, declining by -6.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 15%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12 per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($11 per cubic meter), while the price for Hungary ($2.7 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In value terms, exports of wood shrank to $7.3M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $8.5M, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, imports of wood declined significantly to $2.6M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth.
