In 2022, the average export price for wood amounted to $22 per cubic meter, falling by -22.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 68%. The export price peaked at $28 per cubic meter in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($27 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Malta ($21 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for wood stood at $48 per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 31% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $97 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($52 per cubic meter), while the price for Germany totaled $30 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, shipments abroad of wood was finally on the rise to reach 10K cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The exports peaked at 13K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of wood totaled $218K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $241K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

In general, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 5,519%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at 3.3K cubic meters in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wood dropped to $115K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 4,273% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $123K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
