In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $24 per cubic meter, waning by -3.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 18%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $153 per cubic meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($85 per cubic meter), while the price for Turkey stood at $21 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+12.6%).

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
