In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $41 per cubic meter, which is down by -20.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 182%. The import price peaked at $51 per cubic meter in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($166 per cubic meter), while the price for Portugal ($20 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+1,662.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 9.8K cubic meters of wood were imported into Israel; increasing by 5.1% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a dramatic curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 20K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood fell dramatically to $399K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +24.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $478K, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
