In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $10 per cubic meter, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 50%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($72 per cubic meter), while the price for Croatia ($6.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Montenegro (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for wood stood at $33 per cubic meter in 2022, surging by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 119% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $44 per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Montenegro.
From 2017 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to +16.2% per year.

In 2022, purchases abroad of wood decreased by -10% to 26K cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 40K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood rose modestly to $274K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $281K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 329%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.2K cubic meters, and then contracted notably in the following year.
In value terms, exports of wood fell dramatically to $23K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 237% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $36K, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
