In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $90 per cubic meter, surging by 26% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for wood increased by +66.6% against 2015 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($616 per cubic meter), while the price for Canada ($31 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+25.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for wood amounted to $35 per cubic meter, with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $35 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($306 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Maldives ($1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+113.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of wood imported into Singapore dropped significantly to 1.4K cubic meters, shrinking by -20% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 390%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.7K cubic meters, and then plummeted in the following year.

In value terms, imports of wood totaled $125K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 327% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
